The Cross is the centre of hope
Who Are We?
Hope EC is made up of all different types of people from different backgrounds who have been brought together by a common belief in the message and person of Jesus Christ. The Bible teaches that Jesus, God's Son, came from heaven and died on the cross to save us. It also teaches us that he rose again and offers all who believe in him forgiveness, restoration and life. We believe this message is the only hope for our world.
As such the message of the cross is at the centre of what we do and what we teach as a church.

What's Going On At Hope?
Youth
Investing In The Next Generation

Derek speaking at Blackrock Christian Retreat, PA, USA
Hope is involved in trying to encourage young people to think seriously about God. As such we're developing a programme of activities for young folks to help them engage with the Gospel and equip them for life.
We have a midweek youth home group, where Bible reading and praying is encouraged. We also are involved in Scripture Union groups at our local schools.
We are planning to start a Sunday School in 2026 for Primary Schoolers. Get in touch for early registration as places initially may be limited.
We are also planning to be involved in the new monthly SU Connect group for Secondary Schoolers. It is planned to begin in 2026.

Encouraging Fellowship

We have home groups which meet biweekly for fellowship. Bible passages are read and discussed we try to make sense of God, ourselves and the world in a relaxed enviroment. There's also usually a time for prayer.
We also have monthly men's curry nights and regular ladies evenings which are more varied. These are chances to enjoy good food and time together.
We also meet every other week for prayer.

But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.

Sunday Worship
What can you expect if you come to church?
A warm welcome! Our services are friendly, informal and welcoming. We have no strict dress code, jeans and trainers, or suit and tie, you're welcome in whatever you're comfortable in.
Children and young people stay in during the whole service and usually enjoy it. At present we do not have a creche, but hope in the future to have one.
The songs are a mixture of contemporary hymns and praise songs with some older ones also being sung. Usually the singing is lead by a guitar, our new worship band, or sometimes we use recordings just to help us.
As a church we do teach the Bible. We believe it to be the Word of God. Therefore the reading of the Bible and the sermon are a central part of our worship. The sermon is usually 25-35 minutes. Either our pastor or a guest speaker will read the passage, explain it and show what it means for us in the 21st century.
We have Communion on the first Sunday of each month.
The service usually finishes around 12:15pm. Refreshments are provided for after the service.
